Philosophers and Researchers meet Practitioners and the Industry to Discuss Global and Local Hospitality Issues

Please find attached a call for abstracts for the upcoming conference on Global Hospitality, which will take place on July 1 and 2, 2015 in Deventer, the Netherlands. We call for presentations for and about hospitality in all its  dimensions, including the hospitality industry, tourism, leisure and events, as well as hospitality in the world with topical issues related to, for example, immigration, refugees, asylum seekers, incarcerated people, people in hospitals, at work, and wherever hospitality is or where it is not but where we think it should be. We are inviting theoretical as well as practice-oriented presentations which can advance our understanding about HOSPITALITY. 

Conference objectives: The conference will try to answer the following core questions: • What is the current state of hospitality in society? • How is hospitality conceptualised • How is it practiced? • How is it imagined? 

Conference themes: The conference themes concerning the study of and for Hospitality should relate to the following topical issues/discourses: • Hospitality in philosophy • Hospitality in religion • Hospitality in history and culture • Hospitality in politics • Hospitality in education • Hospitality in business • Hospitality in leisure, tourism and events Theoretical as well as applied/practice-oriented presentations are welcome. 

The conference is organised by the Saxion lectoraat Ethics and Global Citizenship, Lector Ruud Welten.
